Madras High School: Pass to Participate Policy

Madras High School has implemented a "Pass to Participate" protocol to support student success and help ensure all students graduate on time. This policy applies to all students involved in athletics, clubs, and extracurricular activities.

All students wishing to participate in athletics, extracurricular activities, and clubs must meet these requirements.

Policy Overview

To remain eligible for weekly competitions or events, students must meet specific academic and attendance requirements.

Academic Expectations

Grades are checked every Monday starting the second week of each quarter.

  • Students must be passing all classes to participate in competitions, events, or field trips.
  • Ineligibility: If a student fails the same class for two consecutive weeks, they become ineligible for the entire week.
  • Re-establishing Eligibility: A student becomes eligible again once they are no longer on the failing list.

Attendance and Tardy Expectations

Consistent attendance is vital for participation.

  • Unexcused Absences: Any student with an unexcused absence during the week of an event or competition will be ineligible to participate.
  • Tardies: Once a student reaches 10 tardies in a single quarter, they are ineligible for their next competition or event.
  • Continued Tardiness: For every tardy recorded after the initial ten, the student will lose eligibility for one additional competition or event.
