MHS April 2026 Athlete of the Month

We’re excited to announce the student-athletes who have been named our April Athletes of the Month! 📣
These exceptional athletes from baseball, softball, boys and girls track and field, boys and girls golf and boys and girls tennis have shown outstanding dedication and sportsmanship on and off the field, track, course, or court!
Each coach took the time to write down summaries on why these individuals truly stand out. Let’s give a roaring cheer for these April stars! ⭐

Baseball: Bentley is the epitome of calm under pressure no matter on the mound or at the plate. He is the Ace of the baseball team and we know we have an opportunity to win every time he is on the mound. Bentley is the type of leader who leads with his actions and is very coachable. I would take a team full of Bentleys every year.
- Coach Mitch Andresen

Softball: Mila is a great leader for our program. She leads by example and holds others accountable. She currently holds a .341 batting average with 18 RBIs and 1 home run. Thank you Mila.
- Coach Bailey Daniels

Boys Track & Field: We are thrilled to nominate Gavin Williams as the athlete of the month for April. Gavin is one of those athletes whose character will be very hard to replace. He's always willing to put the team first and do what the coaches ask him to do. On top of that, he is very versatile on the track and can do anything from jumps to running events between 100 and 400, and win them all. The joke on the team is that Gavin could have his own track team and still score 20 points.
- Coach Mario Mendoza

Girls Track & Field: We are excited to nominate Miriam Egoavil as the girls track athlete of the month for April. Miriam is an excellent athlete, an outstanding student, and an even better person to have around. She has excelled in the jumps, the sprints, the relays, and also in distances up to 800 meters. Right now Miriam is ranked as one of the top 400 and 800 runners in the Tri-Valley League, and we are excited to see how Miriam closes out her senior year. Go Buffs!
- Coach Mario Mendoza

Boys Golf: Rylan is an excellent example of what attention to detail can do to boost success. Rylan gets excellent grades and is owning his education with a hybrid schedule that allows him the flexibility to balance his studies, the family business, and golf. Returning three Varsity golfers from last year's team that went to the State Tournament was a luxury, but Rylan's play this year has taken care of a major question mark that we had at the #4 spot coming into this season. Flat out, we would not be having the team success that we've had this year without Rylan stepping up the way that he has. His best round of the year, an 89 at the Seaside Invitational, came on a day in which we were missing our #2 golfer due to illness and badly needed a boost. He currently sits at 7th Place overall in the TVC League standings, and has been a rock for us all season long.
- Coach Johnny Wilson

Girls Golf: April picked up golf for the first time this spring and has fallen in love with the sport. She has worked very hard at getting better, spending time outside of practice to go hit golf balls and improve her game. In her first varsity tournament she shot a 129, which is a very respectable score. She has earned the right with her hard work to play in districts in May with the possibility of going to state if we qualify.
- Coach Allen Hair

Boys Tennis: It is with great pleasure for Boys Tennis to honor Isidro Olivera as April's MHS Athlete of the Month 2026. Isidro started out as a JV player his freshman year. However, it was soon recognized his athleticism, raw talent, and his eagerness to learn the sport quickly, gave him the opportunity to play #4 varsity singles for the first match of the season. By improving each week, he earned a permanent position on the varsity team in a singles or doubles capacity, and has never looked back. Since then, he has honed in on specific skills to be the best player he could be. His energy and skill level made him the perfect fit with his cousin as the #1 doubles State qualifying team last year. Now, as a senior, Isidro continues to fine tune his skills in the #1 singles position. He exemplifies positive sportsmanship, team leadership, shares his knowledge of the sport with his younger teammates, challenges himself and his teammates daily, and whether it's during or in the off-season his efforts are paying off. He is again on the path to be a State qualifier this May.
- Coach Kincaid and Assist. Coach Brandon

Girls Tennis: Cypress has worked hard on her game and her undefeated record is a testiment to her goal to go to state. She possess the athletic intensity needed, has the desire and motivation as seen by her willingness to put in the extra time outside of practice
- Coach’s Byron and Mrs. Stock.
